BUFFALO CAB

Terms of Service

Last updated: October 21, 2026

1. About Buffalo Cab

Buffalo Cab provides scheduled campus rides and private ride requests in the Buffalo area and other trips accepted by dispatch. Buffalo Cab is an independent service, not affiliated with or operated by the University at Buffalo. A displayed route or estimate does not guarantee driver availability or acceptance of a trip.

These terms apply to Buffalo Cab websites, mobile apps, and approved partner portals. Separate written driver and business agreements may add responsibilities. Questions can be sent to admin@buffalocab.com or 716 559 4690.

2. Booking and account information

Provide accurate contact, pickup, destination, passenger-count, and scheduling details. Use only an email address you control for verification. Keep sign-in codes and trip-management links private: those links can provide access to trip information, payment, chat, and cancellation. You are responsible for requests you authorize. Contact Buffalo Cab if an account or trip link is misused.

A scheduled reservation is confirmed after its required payment is verified. Seats in a temporary checkout hold are not a confirmed booking. A private request remains subject to availability and acceptance; the request and payment deadlines shown in the service apply. A driver-search countdown describes request handling, not a promised arrival time.

3. Fares and payment

Scheduled fares are quoted per seat. Private estimates use the configured base, mileage, time, minimum, and rounding rules shown by Buffalo Cab. Distances are displayed in miles. Routing estimates may be approximate. Review the fare and any proposed changes before paying or agreeing to travel. Longer-distance and out-of-state requests may require additional review and may be declined.

Card payments use Stripe-hosted checkout. For a private ride with a single online payment, complete checkout before driver search begins. If no driver accepts before the request expires, the collected fare is refunded. Split fares default to equal shares, which can be customized before booking; each share must meet the online payment minimum and all shares must add up to the fare. Split payment links become available after acceptance, and amounts are fixed once the booking is submitted. Buffalo Cab records payment status only after confirmation from the payment service. For a split fare, each payment link represents a share; the fare is fully paid only when all required shares are paid. A selected cash fare is due to the driver as shown on the trip. A driver’s cash-received confirmation records the fare collected; it is not an online card charge. Do not send money to anyone who cannot be verified as the assigned driver or Buffalo Cab.

Tips are optional and separate from the fare. The current online tipping flow opens after a trip is complete and a driver account is recorded. The tip is allocated to that trip’s recorded driver, with a separate receipt; it does not alter split shares or cash fare obligations. Online tips use a separate card checkout. For an erroneous tip or refund request, contact support with the trip code. Driver accounting and payout timing are governed by Buffalo Cab’s driver arrangements.

4. Cancellations, refunds, and no-shows

The trip-management screen shows the cancellation eligibility and estimated refund before confirmation. Under the current scheduled-ride rules, canceling at least 20 minutes before departure qualifies for a full fare refund; from 5 minutes to less than 20 minutes qualifies for 50%; less than 5 minutes qualifies for no standard fare refund. A cancellation releases the selected active seats.

For private rides, a customer cancellation before the driver is on the way qualifies for a full refund of an eligible collected fare. While the driver is on the way or has arrived, the standard refund is 50%. Customer cancellation is unavailable after a trip starts. A driver-arrival wait period is shown in the trip; the current standard wait is 5 minutes before a no-show can be recorded. Contact dispatch about service problems, disputed status changes, accessibility needs, or exceptional circumstances. Rights required by applicable law are not excluded by these rules.

Refunds apply to amounts actually collected and depend on the payment record. Card refunds are processed through the payment provider and may take time to appear at your bank. Split refunds follow the collected shares. A fare cancellation does not silently reverse a separate tip. Cash disputes and tip refunds require support review.

5. Passenger and driver conduct

Treat passengers, drivers, partner staff, and property respectfully. No harassment, discrimination, threats, violence, fraud, or unlawful activity is permitted. Follow lawful driver safety instructions, wear required restraints, and do not distract the driver. Confirm the vehicle and plate shown for your trip before entering. Share accessibility or assistance needs with dispatch so the trip can be arranged appropriately; the app does not guarantee a particular vehicle capability.

Drivers must be approved by Buffalo Cab, keep their contact and vehicle information accurate, accept only trips they can safely perform, and operate lawfully. Drivers must not interact with ride controls while driving. Going online indicates availability for eligible private requests; an offline driver may still be assigned a scheduled departure. Assigned scheduled drivers remain responsible until dispatch changes the assignment, an allowed release succeeds, or a receiving driver accepts a transfer. Sending a transfer request alone does not release the original driver.

Buffalo Cab may restrict access while reviewing misuse, fraud, or safety concerns. Contact support to question an account decision. This is transportation service, not emergency or medical transportation; call emergency services when immediate emergency assistance is needed.

6. Business-requested rides

Only approved businesses may use Buffalo Cab Partner. Staff must have the passenger’s agreement before sharing their name, contact details, and trip information. The business pickup defaults to its approved address. Staff should review the destination and fare, share the trip link privately with the passenger, and help them understand payment and pickup instructions. The portal currently supports passenger-paid fares and does not automatically bill a business or create an invoicing arrangement. A business account may only access its own requests.

7. Communications and availability

Trip status, payment, verification, driver assignment, and support messages may be sent through the service, email, consented ride-update texts, or enabled phone notifications. Text-message/data rates may apply; reply STOP to stop texts. Call/text actions use your phone service and may share your phone number. Repeated driver-request alerts are limited by phone permissions, network conditions, and operating-system rules; silent mode and Focus settings may prevent sound. Notifications are not guaranteed to arrive instantly. Open the app for the current authoritative assignment before acting on an alert.

Drivers may change and service may be interrupted by weather, traffic, vehicle issues, connectivity, or other conditions. Contact Buffalo Cab when the app cannot resolve an active trip problem. These terms do not promise uninterrupted service or remove rights or responsibilities that applicable law does not allow to be excluded.

SMS Terms — Buffalo Cab Ride Updates

By actively selecting the ride-update text checkbox when booking, you agree to receive transactional texts from Buffalo Cab about that ride. Messages may include booking confirmations, secure ride-management links, driver assignment and arrival, trip progress, completion, and cancellation. Message frequency varies with ride activity. Message and data rates may apply. This program does not send marketing messages or SMS sign-in codes.

Text consent is optional: leave the checkbox unchecked and provide an email address to receive booking information by email instead. Reply STOP to stop texts. Opting out does not cancel a ride or change a payment obligation. Keep your ride-management link for current trip information.

Reply HELP for help, email admin@buffalocab.com or call 716 559 4690. Messages may be delayed or unavailable because of carrier, device, or network conditions. Buffalo Cab and carriers do not guarantee delivery or arrival time. Read our Privacy Policy for how SMS information and consent records are handled.

8. Privacy, account deletion, and changes

See the Privacy Policy for how information is handled. Passenger account deletion is available in Account after verification and resolution of open trips and holds. Ride and payment records may remain as described in that policy. Driver and partner account questions should go to support.

We may update these terms as the service changes. The date above identifies the latest version. Keep a copy of the fare and cancellation information that applied to your booking. Questions or disputes should first be sent to support with the trip code, date, and a description of the issue; do not send card numbers or sign-in codes.
